Byron Greene
Senior Pastor

Byron is a native of Boone, North Carolina. In September 2007, Byron became pastor of Wilkesboro Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond. Byron is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry degree at Gardner-Webb University, M. Christopher White School of Divinity.

Byron is married to Jennifer, and they have three children, Evan, Rebecca and Kathryn. Byron loves to tell tall tales to his children and take Jennifer out on dates. Byron also enjoys following Appalachian State football, exercising and going to the movies.


Michael B. Norman
Minister of Music
Mike and his wife Vicki came to WBC in June of 2001. Mike serves as Minister of Music/Outreach. Mike is a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, raised in First Baptist Church there. Vicki spent her childhood at Immanuel Baptist in Paducah, Kentucky. They have two grown children. Mike enjoys reading (especially history) and both Mike and Vicki spend a lot of time doing yard and garden work together. One of their Wilkesboro blessings is a flat, sunny half-acre with lots of space for perennial beds. They also enjoy browsing antique stores and fairs when time permits. Making music at church is a joy and one way to give back to God, who blessed them both with wonderful Christian childhoods.

Patricia Turner
Minister of Children/Education

Patricia is a native of Lincolnton, North Carolina. Since May 2001, Patricia has served as Minister of Children and Education at WBC. She is a graduate of Gardner-Webb College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Patricia loves spending time with children and watching them grow and mature. She is single so all of WBC is her extended family. Patricia enjoys spending time with friends and family, exercising and reading.


Tad Craig
Minister of Youth
Tad graduated from Anderson University with a BA in Christian Ministry. He also graduated from Gardner Webb School of Divinity. He served at Anderson First Baptist Church, Anderson SC and Providence Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC. Tad is married to Marshay and they have one son. They are big Clemson fans.

Barbara Adams
Educational Secretary
Barbara is currently serving as children/education/music/youth secretary. She has served in this capacity for 14 years. Barbara graduated from Wilkes Community College. Barbara is married to James, and they have two grown children. Barbara enjoys reading, boating and chaperoning youth trips.

Nancy Reese
Pastoral/Financial Secretary
Nancy is a native of Gastonia, North Carolina. She graduated from Gardner-Webb College with an A.A. degree in Music. She has served Wilkesboro Baptist Church for twenty three years. She is currently Pastoral/Financial Secretary. She enjoys reading and spending time with grandchildren.

Rhetta Christmas
Organist
Rhetta is a native of South Carolina, and graduate of Converse College with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with piano performance. Rhetta has served as organist at Wilkesboro Baptist Church for over 30 years. Rhetta enjoys teaching public school music and piano lessons, playing bridge, reading and shopping.

Wade Walsh
Custodian
Wade is originally from Wilkes County and has been our church custodian since 1989. He is married to Ruby Johnson Walsh. He has a daughter, Sherry, and two precious grandchildren. Wade loves spending time with his family and spending time on his farm.

Mary Sallie Styers
Preschool Director
Mary Sallie worked for 15 years with the Wilkes County Schools' Exceptional Children program. She also was Coordinator of Wilkes County Schools' Preschool Program for 15 years. Mary Sallie has invested many hours in the Wilkesboro Baptist Weekday Preschool Program to make it the best it could be. Mary Sallie attends Wilkesboro Baptist Church, She is married to Ricky Styers and has 2 children, Sallie Staley and Sammy Styers and 1 precious grandson.

Helen Elledge
Hostess
Helen was hostess for many years, and she took some time off to be with her grandchildren. Now she is back, preparing wonderful meals for our regular Wednesday evening Family Night Suppers.
