The Robin Aletha Joines Memorial Scholarship is awarded in memory of Robin Joines, an outstanding student leader at Wilkes Central High School and Wilkesboro Baptist Church. Robin went on to be with the Lord in September of 1994. The scholarship is a way of remembering Robin by honoring those who choose to walk in the footsteps of Christ, as Robin sought to do during her life.

Those who are trying to live according to that standard are encouraged to apply for this $1000 scholarship. The qualifications are:

1. Student at Wilkes Central High School

2. Active and at least 2-3 extracurricular activities

3. GPA of 3.5 or better

4. Going to attend a 4 year school—junior college candidates do not qualify unless special circumstances are described and understood

5. Active in a church/youth ministry.First priority given to WBC members.

6. NOT ashamed of sharing faith

7. Respected by teachers and peers at home, school, and church

8. Demonstrates humility with a backbone

9. Exercises integrity with compassion

10. Proves honesty, almost to a fault

11. Exudes the joy of life and living with Christ

12. Desires to please God more than man

If you would like to apply for this scholarship, please write an essay describing why you believe that you meet the qualifications described above and your plans on how you are going to continue your strong commitment to these qualities. Include your current GPA as part of the letter. Please be as open and honest as possible about your faith and your journey with Christ. Honesty and integrity in your writing will be highly valued!

Make sure that your letter is returned to the Wilkesboro Baptist Church offices NO LATER than May 1, 2012. Entries that come in past that date will not be considered. You may email these entries to:
