Bruce Nisley
Lay Elder
Bruce Nisley’s life reflects a deep love for people and for God’s creation. Raised on a Nebraska farm, he learned the value of hard work and stewardship early on. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska and a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Montana State University, and also worked as a hunting and fishing guide in Montana, combining his passion for the outdoors with a heart for serving others.
Throughout his career, Bruce has served in diverse roles including ranch manager, Christian camp director, college professor, and missionary in Uganda, where he directed a faith-based college academic program. After returning to the U.S., he completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse, surgical first assistant, and Surgical Services Director. He later returned to education as Agricultural and Equine Program Director at Laramie County Community College before joining Samaritan’s Purse full-time as a Medical Operations Specialist and Specialty Teams Manager.
Bruce came to faith in Christ at age ten, and his commitment to ministry has shaped his life and leadership ever since. He and his wife of 36 years, Sonja, are both nurses who have served domestically and internationally with Samaritan’s Purse. They have attended Wilkesboro Baptist Church for the past three years and are thankful to call it home. Together they have three grown children and one grandchild.
